From Prythian to Product: How Knix x ACOTAR™ Came to Life

How do you turn a world readers have imagined for years into something they can actually wear?

That was the challenge behind ACOTAR x Knix, launching October 15.

The A Court of Thorns and Roses universe already feels incredibly visual: star-filled skies over Velaris, roses in eternal bloom, the sparkling coast of Adriata, forests lit by flame.

But bringing those worlds into Knix meant looking beyond the obvious.

We wanted to capture the feeling of the books—the romance, drama, softness, power and, yes, a little bit of heat—and translate it into something that still felt unmistakably Knix.

From the artwork to the silhouettes to the world we built around the campaign, almost every detail started by hand.

It Started With the Courts

The collection takes inspiration from four realms: Night, Spring, Summer and Autumn.

Each came with its own visual language.

For Night, that meant deep tones, constellations and flowing, tattoo-like motifs. Spring brought softness, romance and florals—with thorns never too far away. Summer called for airy blues and the sun-soaked details of Adriata. And Autumn introduced richer tones, falling leaves and fire.

Those moods became the foundation for everything that followed.

From Realm to Print

Every print in the collection began as original artwork, hand-drawn by an ACOTAR-obsessed designer on our own team.

Velaris Night Sky became a field of stars and constellations. Spring Court Bloom leans into romantic roses and cascading florals. Adriata Toile turns the Summer Court into an illustrated coastal landscape filled with architecture, ships, shells and treasures.

Ink That Binds takes a less literal approach, translating the connection between Feyre and Rhysand into flowing, tattoo-like linework. And Ember Fox captures Autumn through a flame-tailed fox moving among falling leaves.

Some references reveal themselves right away. Others take a closer look.

But all of them started the same way: with someone who knew the books sitting down to draw.

Then Came the Characters

The prints tell the story of the Courts. The silhouettes gave us a chance to explore the characters and moments within them.

Five new styles were created specifically for the collection, each drawing from a different character or scene.

The Nesta Corset channels Nesta’s strength and fire. The Feyre Lace Teddy and Court of Nightmares Sheer Skirt were designed to layer together, inspired by Feyre’s unforgettable turn in the Court of Nightmares.

The Starfall Robe & Slip Set takes us somewhere softer, bringing the romance of Feyre’s Starfall night into fluid, dreamy layers.

For Elain, a lace thong bodysuit and sheer skirt pair softness with something a little more unexpected. And the collection’s satin and lace slip dresses take their cues from Amren and Morrigan, with silhouettes designed to feel distinct to each of them.

It wasn’t about recreating what a character wore on the page.

It was about asking what their energy might look like through the lens of Knix.

Fantasy, Without the Costume

Then came another question: how far do you take the fantasy?

Too little, and you lose the magic that makes ACOTAR feel like ACOTAR.

Too much, and suddenly you’re making something that feels more like a costume than something you’d actually want in your closet.

So we kept coming back to the middle: recognizable references paired with modern silhouettes, romantic details alongside Knix comfort and performance, and fantasy expressed through print, lace, satin and sheer layers.

The result is a collection you can read in, sleep in, layer, lounge in—or wear when you’re feeling slightly more Court of Nightmares.

No masquerade required.

Building the World Around It

And we didn’t stop once the clothes were finished.

When it came time to photograph the collection, we wanted the world around it to have the same handmade quality as the pieces themselves.

Even the campaign backdrops were hand-painted, creating a different atmosphere for each Court rather than relying on a generic fantasy setting.

Night became celestial and moody. Spring soft and romantic. Summer bright and sun-soaked. Autumn rich, fiery and dramatic.

It was another way to take the colors, textures and emotions behind the collection and build a world around them.

From Page to Prythian to Knix

Through every part of the process, the goal stayed the same: create something that feels rooted in ACOTAR while still feeling like something you’d reach for in real life.

Because maybe the best part of fantasy isn’t recreating it exactly.

Maybe it’s finding little ways to bring it with you.
