Outfits for Every Type of Valentine’s Date

That liminal period between the holidays and spring can feel a little monotonous. That’s why — despite Valentine’s Day’s reputation for being overblown and commercialized — we can’t help but jump on any occasion to celebrate. Besides, is anything more worthy of exaltation than love? We think not.

Unlike other occasions that are laden with tradition, V-Day is an opportunity to celebrate love in any and all forms however you want — whether that means cherishing your friends, partner(s), or yourself. Once you’ve decided where to shower your love, all that’s left to do is pick a fun activity and an outfit to match.

With the help of artist Ludi Leiva's whimsical illustrations and billowy figures, we dreamed up our ideal date nights and the Knix items we'd pull from our closet for each.

TV and Takeout

We love to see casual Valentine’s Day plans, replete with a movie marathon (or Netflix binge) and takeout boxes from your favorite local spot. Let’s face it, date night has gotten more chill since the pandemic — and we’re very okay with that. Don’t think for a second, however, that you can’t still look fashionable while doing it. Our Good to Go Jogger and Oversized Hoodie is the definition of cute meets comfy.

Curious what your love life has in store this year? Light some candles, cue the Lana Del Rey, and consult the tarot deck. Oh, and don’t forget to pour a healthy glass of wine, while you’re at it. If you have a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear, we have just the thing to suit the vibe: our limited edition Lace Collection. Slip into a Modal Nightgown or a Lace Bralette to channel some serious mystique.

Romantic Picnic

If you’re among the fortunate who live somewhere reasonably warm during the winter months, venture outdoors for an afternoon of dining alfresco with your boo. If it’s subzero where you are, fear not: all it takes is a blanket and some charcuterie to create a floor picnic in your living room. Really commit to the bit by plugging some nature sounds into your speaker and surrounding yourself with houseplants. Better yet, match the mood with a slinky Slip Dress that’s sure to dazzle your date (while being slouchy enough to sit in).

Spa Night

Nothing spells love like a restorative spa night in. Take this as a sign from the universe to dice some cucumbers, fill the tub with suds, and give yourself a mani-pedi. Slather on a face mask and do some journaling before crawling into bed in your Modal Sleep Set — made of luxuriously soft fabric — for a night of beauty rest.
