With the launch of the Own Your Sexy collection — featuring old favorites and new gems — we’ve been reflecting on what it means to be sexy, for yourself.
Sometimes, sexiness can feel like a performance; it can place the emphasis on the viewer. But at its best, sexiness is a feeling of confidence that emanates from deep within.
It’s about loving how you look and feel — not because that IG selfie got tons of likes, but because you’re living on your own terms. When we peel back the layers of the narrow definition of sexy we've been sold in glossy magazines: what does sexy really look and feel like for you?
This year may just be our sexiest yet, and in that spirit we’re making a few new promises to ourselves: to be kinder, bolder, and more unapologetic than ever.
Celebrating Aging
Contrary to what your TikTok algorithm says, aging is sexy. Wrinkles are hard earned — badges collected from years of big smiles, hard cries, and belly laughs. They’re a face-forward way of showing the world you’ve felt deeply and lived unreservedly.
In a society seemingly obsessed with youth as currency, we’re relishing every fine line and gray strand — each a sign of a life well lived. There’s, of course, nothing wrong with wanting to look your best at every age. But instead of regarding age as something to be intervened and mediated, we say it’s high time to start celebrating every chapter of life and the changes they bring.
Radical Self-Kindness
Self-hate is profitable. Diet culture’s insidious tentacles are far reaching, influencing us to buy clothes that cinch and supplements that promise flat tummies. But when we opt for self love instead, we’re the ones who stand to gain.
It’s all about cultivating an inner voice that’s gentle and kind. So, this year, we’re putting energy into showering ourselves with love and compassion — the kind we extend to our loved ones, but often withhold from ourselves.
Giving Less F*cks
There’s, arguably, nothing sexier than living unapologetically. Take it from us, it’s literally the driving force behind all our creations. Being unapologetic looks like not asking for permission, embracing your own uniqueness, and doing what makes you feel free.
External validation is nice — but know what’s even better? Living life — from the clothes you wear to how you fill your days — in a way that feels aligned with your truest self. It’s a practice in not caring what others think, and it’s exhilarating.
Getting What We Want
Gone are the days of waiting for your love interest or significant other to buy you lavish jewelry and lingerie. Why wait for others to give us what we want when we can go out and get it ourselves, no lover required.
Owning your sexy means just that: you possess it, it belongs to you. For so long we’ve viewed being sexy through the lens hetero culture and the male gaze. Now we can don our sexiest attire just because it’s a Tuesday night and we feel like it. You can be the star of the show, and your own audience.
Never Compromising Comfort
Comfort is a buzzword that’s overused, but it’s also not to be underestimated. There’s no singular definition of what it means to be comfortable, it looks different for everyone. Being comfortable, however, universally changes the experience of being in your own body.
It changes the way you move through the world, how you hold yourself, and your ability to be present and experience things fully without tugging at your clothes or the perils of being perceived. Sexy and comfortable once existed at opposite ends of the spectrum, but the work of making them co-exist is our bread and butter.
