Finding the perfect bra can, at times, feel mythical. Does it really exist, or is it just a fable?Β
Before you resign yourself to a lifetime of jagged underwires and back-bulge, consider finding the right bra like an art form β one that starts with figuring out your size. βThere are a lot of people who are wearing the wrong size,β says Fitting Expert Alex. βThe thing about bra sizing thatβs important to realize is that thereβs no industry standard really.βΒ
Alex, whom we like to think of as the fairy godmother of bras, spends her days meeting virtually one-on-one with customers, guiding them through measurements to find their perfect fit, and making personalized recommendations. Like a glass slipper, fit is everything.Β
Our A to H cup-sizing is designed to be as inclusive as possible. But, still, based on your breast shape, bust-to-band ratio, and rib cage width, some bras may be more conducive to your shape than others. Thatβs where Alex comes in to provide expert insights β here are her hot tips.Β
The Revolution Bra
Weβre pretty excited about the newest bra to join our (already stellar) lineup: theΒ Revolution Bra. βI think itβs gonna work really great for people who have a very full bust with a bit more of a teardrop shaped breast or a wider set bust,β says Alex. Though, sheβs quick to add, βItβs going to be a really phenomenal option for everyone.βΒ
Because new sizing has been introduced alongside the launch of the Revolution Bra, she anticipates it will serve a wider variety of people. That includes those who have a wider band size and smaller cup β and vice versa. Alex, who has a smaller rib cage and bigger cup, is βsuper looking forward to having the Revolution Bra.βΒ
The WingWoman BraΒ
βThe WingWoman is easily our most popular bra,β according to Alex. Between the classic shape and side coverage, itβs easy to see why itβs a fan favorite. If itβs your first foray into wireless bra territory, this is a great introduction to the wireless world.Β
Alex tends to recommend the WingWoman Bra to those who are βa bit more wide set.β The side coverage prevents spillage on bigger cup sizes for a smooth look. It encompasses the breast nicely and creates a smooth silhouette βall around the side of the body,β Alex tells me. As someone with a smaller ribcage, she also gives it her stamp of approval.Β
The LuxeLift Pullover Bra
βI find that anyone can wear the LuxeLift Pullover Bra because it comes in so many different sizes,β says Alex. Though, she notes, if you have a wide band-to-bust ratio that ranges from 8 to 10 inches, you may experience some spillage at the top.Β
Otherwise, this bra is the definition of βeasy to wearβ and will take you from WFH to workout class. The wide support band and thick straps shape beautifully and seamlessly. βItβs such a unique bra in the sense that it works in so many different ways,β says Alex.Β
The Evolution Bra
The Evolution Bra (the precursor to the Revolution Bra) is one Alex also recommends to a wide range of shapes and sizes. βI show it to fuller busted folks and people whose breasts sit in a more forward-facing position,β says Alex.Β
Her only caveat is that the lighter fabric may not be optimal for those who have different sized breasts or are looking for full nipple coverage β to which I respond βI feel like slightly visible nipples are having aΒ momentΒ right now, though.βΒ
Beyond shape, itβs a bra Alex recommends based on lifestyle, as well. Itβs a great option for those who have a varied lifestyle that involves an afternoon at the office followed by a low-impact workout. βItβs also a great item to travel with because itβs reversible,β she says.
The Good to Go Seamless Bra
We love a bra that lives up to its name β and when it comes to the Good to Go Seamless Bra, people tend to gravitate towards it for its immediate βlike a gloveβ fit. While other bras in our lineup tend to mold to your shape with wear, this one βfits you perfectly right away,β according to Alex.Β
Itβs a great everyday wear option that works for just about any breast shape. Itβs also one Alex tends to recommend to those with larger busts. βI find that people with larger busts who prefer sleeping in some sort of bra love this one because itβs super comfy,β she says.Β
The Knixy Lace Deep-V Bralette
Folks with smaller busts who are in the market for a bralette that actually provides support may find a match in the Knixy Lace Deep-V Bralette. While those with larger cups may experience some spillage, those within an A to D cup range often find it provides the right amount of coverage and support.Β
The Knixy Lace Racerback Bralette
Who said bralettes are only for smaller cup sizes? The Knixy Lace Racerback Bralette is Alexβs go-to recommendation for D+ cup sizes who are in the market for a bralette. Itβs also an option she tends to suggest to those who have a higher band-to-bustΒ ratio. βThe way the scoop neck works on the body with the racerback encompasses the bust nicely,β she says.
The Padded V-Neck BraΒ
Alex refers to the Padded V-Neck Bra as the love child of the WingWoman and LuxeLift Pullover bras. βItβs like that middle ground where youβre getting support around the body with a very seamless look,β she says. For breast shapes that need more front coverage (but still want a deep-v cut), this is an easy favorite.Β
The Good to Go High Neck Seamless Bra
One thing I love about the Good to Go High Neck Seamless Bra is that itβs an everyday bra that provides compression without feeling restrictive. It can be worn forΒ low impact workouts β but also works just as well as a crop top.
Those with wide set breasts, or breasts that gravitate to the sides, will find that this bra envelops your bust and provides smoothing side and under-bust support. Itβs a bra Alex finds works well for a range of sizes. Though it *technically* only goes up to a DD cup, itβs often still a great fit for those with E and F cups.Β
The Catalyst Sports Bra
The lift and compression of the Catalyst Bra remains unmatched. If your breasts tend to droop, the Catalystβs molded cups and thick band will provide serious lift. βIt really does hold you in place,β says Alex.Β
While it was designed for high impact movement for a wide range of shapes and sizes, Alex finds those with larger busts often wear it as an everyday bra because itβs so supportive.Β
